We have an opportunity for someone to join our team based in our Wooster St Shop in New York, NY as a Made to Measure Specialist, on a full-time basis. The Made to Measure Specialists at Paul Smith offers impeccable and personalized service to prospective and existing customers. This role contributes to the overall success of the business by providing a specialized service that elevates and enhances the in-store experience. Made to Measure Specialists are responsible for being ambassadors of the brand and furthering awareness of the brand offerings.
What you’ll be doing
• Provide expert consultation on fabrics, styles, fits, and customization options based on client needs and preferences.
• Take precise body measurements to ensure optimal fit.
• Place and manage MTM orders with accuracy and attention to detail.
• Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients, ensuring a personalized shopping experience.
• Collaborate with UK MTM team, and managers to ensure timely and accurate production.
• Maintain detailed records of client preferences, measurements, and past purchases.
• Stay informed on seasonal fashion trends, fabrics, and tailoring innovations.
• Assist with in-store events, fittings, and VIP client appointments as needed.
• To be aware of and to maintain and increase sales throughout the year and achieve set financial targets.
• To effectively sell Paul Smith products and meet monthly and seasonal sales goals.
• To promote private shopping and wardrobe consultation.
• To develop studio services and VIP clientele (celebrities, high profile clients and stylists).
• To oversee and build the Consignment business.
• To ensure a high level of customer service is maintained at all times.
• To ascertain client information and ensure that customer service records are up to date in the CRM system.
• To assist the team in ensuring that the shop has the correct levels of stock.
• To assist the team in ensuring that the shop is merchandised to the Company’s desired standard.
• To assist the Management Team, Sales Associates, and Clients on the shop floor in all matters related to tailoring and alterations, and to help maintain the shop’s alterations logbook.
• To ensure that the shop is opened and securely locked and alarmed in the absence of senior management as required. This must be done, for security reasons, in the presence of a fellow member of staff.
• To have a full understanding of the Company’s disciplinary procedures and policies as stated in the Employee Handbook along with Health and Safety Guidelines.
• To have full product knowledge and ensure knowledge relevant seasonal product training.
• To ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained on a daily basis.
• To assist in any stock, merchandise and housekeeping related duties as requested by the management team. This may include duties such as shop merchandising and up-keep, inventory and stock takes, receiving deliveries, the ticketing of merchandise and any other duties as outlined by the management team.
• Any other related duties as outlined from time to time by the Retail Leadership team.
Who you are
• Passionate about style, fashion and the Paul Smith brand, with a strong awareness of contemporary trends across music, art and culture.
• Experienced in delivering an elevated luxury shopping experience, with at least 5 years’ experience in luxury fashion sales, ideally within made-to-measure menswear.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and confident representing the brand with authenticity, creativity and professionalism.
• Knowledgeable about garment construction, fabrics and tailoring techniques, with the ability to confidently guide clients through styling and customization options.
• A strong relationship builder with exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, able to establish trust and deliver personalized service.
• Commercially driven with a proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets within a luxury retail environment.
• Flexible, reliable and collaborative, with a positive approach to teamwork and supporting colleagues.
• Helpful, approachable and trustworthy, with a genuine passion for creating memorable customer experiences.
