Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: Structural Designer provides design and technical support for structural. Working under the supervision of licensed engineers, this role performs structural design and analysis, prepares drawings and specifications, and assists in developing innovative, safe, and cost-effective structural solutions. The Structural Designer collaborates closely with project teams to ensure deliverables meet quality standards, codes, budget, timeframe and client expectations.

- Perform structural design and analysis using appropriate codes, standards, and engineering principles.
- Prepare design calculations, drawings, and specifications for projects involving steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
- Utilize computer-assisted engineering design software and equipment to develop and document structural designs.
- Coordinate with engineers, CAD technicians, clients, project managers and other disciplines to ensure complete and accurate project deliverables.
- Research design options and materials; assist with developing technical solutions that meet client and project requirements.
- Review and check design drawings for accuracy, constructability, and compliance following established QA/QC procedures.
- Support preparation of cost estimates, schedules, and project documentation.
- Participate in project meetings and maintain professional communication with internal teams and external clients.
- Maintain organized project files, documentation, and calculations in accordance with company standards.
- Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and efficient work environment.
- Support engineering goals and project planning through timely, accurate, and coordinated design deliverables.
- Assist with preparation of design schedules, cost estimates, and project documentation.

- Maintain positive relationships with clients and assist in identifying repeat business opportunities.
- Coordinate, organize, and support engineering tasks to ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Maintain organized project files and contribute to consistent document management practices.
- Perform structural design and analysis using engineering design software.
- Stay current with software updates and apply new features effectively.
- Utilize modeling software to develop plans, sections, and details.
- Review work for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Revise drawings and designs based on redlines, ensuring corrections are implemented accurately and use feedback to improve future work quality.
- Participate in maintaining project QA/QC documentation and standards.
- Support the creation and maintenance of training materials to help onboard and develop other engineers.
- Participate in cross-training and interdepartmental collaboration to support project delivery and assist with managing workloads.
- Assist with onboarding coordination, timesheet completion, and training documentation as needed.
- Pursue opportunities for professional growth through training, webinars, and seminars.
- Work toward obtaining Professional Engineer (PE) certification.
- Stay informed of changes in codes, materials, and emerging technologies relevant to structural design.
- Assumes responsibilities for special assignments delegated by the Director of Engineering.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Engineer Intern (EI) certification preferred or ability to obtain.
- Working knowledge of structural engineering calculations.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
