Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in diesel engine repair and maintenance, along with experience in working with various types of heavy equipment. This role involves diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of diesel-powered vehicles and machinery.
Duties
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, including but not limited to transmissions, air brakes, hydraulics, and suspension systems.
- Diagnose mechanical issues using automotive diagnostics tools and schematics.
- Conduct repairs on various heavy equipment such as excavators, cranes, farm machinery, and tractor-trailers.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment for repairs and fabrication tasks.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs and services performed.
- Provide exceptional customer service by communicating effectively with clients regarding their vehicle or equipment needs.
- Assist in the assembly and disassembly of components as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations while performing heavy lifting tasks.
- Maintain a clean work and shop environment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Diesel Mechanic or similar role in equipment/heavy truck repair or service technician capacity.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of diesel engines, equipment/truck maintenance, and repair techniques.
- Familiarity with heavy equipment operation and maintenance practices.
- Experience with electrical systems is a plus; knowledge of HVAC systems is also beneficial.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals for troubleshooting purposes.
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and welding equipment safely and effectively.
- Willing to be flexible and adapt to new and different equipment and truck repair.
- Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Have the ability and want to to be at work on time.
