Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented part-time Tool Crib Attendant to manage our tool crib operations. In this key support role, you will maintain cutting tools and inventory and production staff, manage re-grinding of cutting tools, manage recycling of carbide cutting tools, maintain accurate inventory, inspect and organize tools, and ensure the smooth availability of necessary tooling to support our manufacturing operations. This position is essential for maintaining efficiency, safety, and quality in our precision machining and tooling environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, inspect, organize, store, and issue hand tools, cutting tools, machine tools, fixtures, safety equipment, and supplies.
- Maintain accurate inventory records using computer systems or inventory software (cycle counts, stock replenishment, and tracking of issued/returned items).
- Inspect tools for wear, damage, and functionality; arrange for repairs, regrinding, or replacement as needed.
- At times prepare and kit tools for specific jobs or production runs.
- Order tools, supplies, and equipment; work with vendors for timely procurement.
- Keep the tool crib clean, organized, and compliant with safety and 5S standards.
- Assist with shipping/receiving of tooling-related items when needed.
- Support production teams by responding promptly to tool requests and identifying opportunities to improve tool management processes.
- Run errands to local vendors for supplies.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- 1β3 years of experience in a tool crib, inventory control, warehouse, or manufacturing support role preferred.
- Familiarity with machining tools, tooling, and manufacturing environments is required
- Basic computer skills and experience with inventory management software (or willingness to learn).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to read and interpret basic documents, drawings, or tool lists.
- Good communication and customer service skills to interact effectively with production staff and vendors.
- Must be reliable, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
