What are the responsibilities and job description for the Account Manager PROG (Remote) position at Patriot Rail Transportation Company LLC?
Primary Responsibilities:
Developing existing relationships with our current clients and managing a portfolio of clients with a focus on agricultural commodities for an assigned region. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in commodity trading, contract negotiations, and a deep understanding of market trends affecting multiple commodities.
Tasks Performed:
- Manage day to day client communication and ongoing relationships as it relates to current, new and upcoming projects.
- Establish and build strong working relationships with business leaders at all levels.
- Work closely with Yield Management, Operations and RVP Sales to provide written and verbal communications and solutions to the existing customer as needed on a day-to-day basis
- Formulate and execute comprehensive commodity strategies aligned with the organization's overall business objectives to drive volume and revenue growth.
- Analyze market trends, global economic factors, and geopolitical influences to anticipate potential risks and opportunities in the commodity landscape.
- Lead commodity based commercial projects to develop new rail opportunities.
- Assist Regional Vice President of Business Development with identifying growthopportunities on railroads within a defined region
- Enhances organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
- Attends relevant business meetings in the area such as Economic Development Councils, etc. to explore new opportunities and leads.
- Manage relationships with existing and potential customers.
- As a key member of the management staff, assumes various additional projects as directed.
- Working with existing customer base to develop new revenue opportunities
- 50% travel required.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Prior experience working with business development markets and/or Business-to-business sales.
- Proven experience 5 years as a Account Manager or in a similar strategic sourcing role.
- Excellent organization and communication skills, the ability to multi-task and shift priorities as needed.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite and experience using databases.
- Outstanding communication skills.
- All candidates must have the ability to speak, read and write English.
- Valid Driver’s License
Preferred Qualifications:
- Broad experience in railroad operations
- 3 years short line railroad and/or transportation sales & marketing experience preferred but not required
- Broad experience in distribution applications
- Prior experience using CRM system is preferred.

Minimum Physical Requirements:
Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, handle objects, reach with hands and arms, write, talk, type and hear. Associate is occasionally required to sit, stoop, bend and/or kneel and lift and/or move up to 35 lbs. Associate is typically in an office environment but frequently travels and/or visits a warehouse or outdoor environment.
