Full job description
As a powder coating shop helper you will be responsible for preparing metal parts for coating, including washing, cleaning, sanding, masking, and hanging items on racks. Assist with loading ovens, operating equipment under supervision, and packaging finished products while maintaining a safe, clean work environment.
- Part Preparation: Wash, Sand, clean, and mask parts (using tape or plugs) to ensure proper coating adhesion.
- Racking/Loading: Hang, arrange, and un-hang metal parts on racks for the coating process.
- Production Support: Assist Coaters with loading/unloading ovens and operating powder coating guns.
- Maintenance: Clean paint booths, sweep, and maintain tools and equipment to uphold safety standards.
- Packaging: Inspect finished parts for defects, then package or palletize them for shipping.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
- Physical Strength: Ability to stand for long periods, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Environment: Exposure to loud noises, dust, chemicals, and extreme temperatures (heat/cold).
- Safety: Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including masks, eye protection, and gloves.
Qualifications
- Experience: Experience grinding metals is a must.
- Skills: Ability to follow instructions, strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn technical skills.
- Logistics: Ability to follow work orders to organize parts.
- Must have reliable transportation.
