Position Summary
Patriot Heating & Cooling is seeking a dependable, customer-focused Lead HVAC Installer to join our growing team. The Lead Installer is responsible for installing residential heating and cooling systems while ensuring quality workmanship, job-site safety, and an outstanding customer experience. We are looking for someone who shares our desire to provide exceptional client service. This position also provides leadership and guidance to installation helpers and apprentices.
Responsibilities
- Lead residential HVAC system replacements and new installations.
- Install furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, indoor coils, humidifiers, air cleaners, thermostats, and related equipment.
- Read and interpret installation instructions, equipment specifications, and basic blueprints.
- Fabricate and install sheet metal transitions and duct modifications as needed.
- Ensure all installations meet manufacturer specifications and local building codes.
- Perform startup, testing, and commissioning of installed equipment.
- Verify proper airflow, refrigerant charge, gas pressure, electrical operation, and system performance.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area throughout each project.
- Communicate professionally with homeowners, explaining the installation process and answering questions.
- Complete installation paperwork and job documentation accurately.
- Train and mentor installation assistants to improve their skills and productivity.
- Safely operate company vehicles and maintain tools and equipment.
- Work closely with the office and service department to ensure customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 years of residential HVAC installation experience.
- Strong knowledge of furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, and indoor air quality products.
- Ability to troubleshoot installation issues and make sound field decisions.
- Working knowledge of electrical wiring, refrigerant piping, gas piping, venting, and duct systems.
- Ability to lift 75 pounds and work in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, and varying weather conditions.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently while leading a crew.
- Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- EPA Section 608 Certification.
- NATE Certification or willingness to obtain.
- Experience with high-efficiency furnaces, heat pumps, and communicating thermostats.
- Sheet metal fabrication experience.
