Position Overview:
The company is seeking an experienced Controller to oversee accounting operations with a strong focus on inventory management, cost accounting, and variance analysis to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Leadership & Reporting:
- Oversee financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage financial audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
Accounting Department Management:
- Lead and manage the accounting team, including two direct reports (AR & AP staff).
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls.
- Develop and implement best practices for department productivity.
Inventory Management & Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain accurate inventory accounting processes.
- Partner with operations to assess inventory levels, turnover rates, and obsolescence risks.
- Implement best practices for inventory controls and align with production and sales goals.
- Lead physical inventory counts and cycle counting processes.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy:
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Provide strategic financial insights for pricing, production, and capital investment decisions.
- Evaluate financial risks and opportunities to support long-term planning.
Process Improvement & Systems Management:
- Identify and implement process improvements for financial reporting efficiency.
- Leverage ERP and accounting systems for optimized financial tracking.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and recommend enhancements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
- 5 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, cost accounting, and variance analysis.
- Experience with ERP systems (Infor preferred), financial reporting tools, and Excel.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
