Employment Type: Full-Time
This is a hands-on, broad accounting role that is ideal for someone who enjoys variety and likes being the person the team can count on to jump in where needed. Rather than being limited to one area of accounting, this individual will support several functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, invoicing, project accounting, and other general accounting responsibilities.
Our client operates within the construction and building services industry, providing products and services across a variety of construction applications. The environment is fast-paced and entrepreneurial, making this a strong opportunity for someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and taking ownership of their work.
What You’ll Do
- Manage day-to-day accounts payable and accounts receivable activities
- Prepare and process customer invoices and billing
- Assist with collections and follow up on outstanding receivables
- Process vendor invoices and assist with payment activities
- Support project accounting, including project-related billing, costs, and documentation
- Assist with account and general ledger reconciliations
- Research and resolve billing, payment, and accounting discrepancies
- Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation
- Partner with operations and other departments to gather information needed for billing and accounting
- Assist with month-end accounting activities as needed
- Support reporting and other accounting projects
- Take on ad hoc accounting and administrative responsibilities based on the needs of the business
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a hands-on accounting, bookkeeping, or accounting support role
- Experience with AP, AR, invoicing, and billing
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Comfortable managing multiple responsibilities and shifting priorities
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with both accounting and operational teams
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP systems
- Experience with project accounting, construction, contracting, or a project-based business is a plus
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
Who Will Thrive in This Role
This position is especially well suited for someone who considers themselves an accounting utility player. You may be working through invoices and vendor questions one day, helping with customer billing or project accounting the next, and jumping into a reconciliation or special project after that.
The right person will be comfortable operating without a narrowly defined lane and will enjoy being a dependable resource across the accounting function.
