Responsibilities
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility to promote independence and dignity.
- Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to ensure residents’ health status is maintained.
- Administer medications accurately following prescribed guidelines and document all medication activities using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems.
- Provide specialized care for residents with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques.
- Support residents with assisted living needs by preparing nutritious meals, assisting with feeding when necessary, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
- Operate mobility aids such as Hoyer lifts safely to assist residents with transfers and prevent injury.
- Engage residents in social activities and provide emotional support to foster a sense of community and well-being.
Qualifications
- Entry level and or prior experience in nursing homes, assisted living facilities, or home & community care is highly desirable.
- Knowledge with Mild Intellectual Disabilities, Bipolar Disorder, Schizoaffective Disorder, Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorder, Intermittent explosive Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive disorder, Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or disabilities in general is advantageous. If there's no experience that's okay we are here to help you gain experience.
- Ability to accurately take vital signs and assist with medication self administration following safety protocols.
- Strong caregiving skills complemented by excellent communication, patience, and empathy.
- Valid driver’s license for driving responsibilities related to resident outings or appointments is a plus.
