What are the responsibilities and job description for the Head of Sales position at Pathway Labs?
About Pathway Labs
Pathway Labs is building EchoNext, an AI-based screening tool that turns standard ECGs into a way to detect structural heart disease (heart failure, valve disease, cardiac amyloid, pulmonary hypertension, and more) long before patients show symptoms. We're a world-leading cardiac AI team, published in Nature, and ran the largest cardio AI screening trial in the country. Heart disease kills around 20M people a year and there's never been a real screening test for it. We're building one. See our writeups in the New York Times, CNN, Reuters, and many more at Pathway Labs.
The role
We're hiring our first dedicated salesperson. You'll work our substantial inbound interest, owning the pipeline end-to-end: qualifying leads, running discovery and demos, navigating health system buying processes, and getting deals across the finish line.
Because you'll be our first sales hire, the role naturally extends beyond pure selling. You'll likely help with early customer onboarding, stay close to accounts after they sign, and feed everything you learn back into how we sell, what we build, and who we hire next. The shape of the job will evolve with you in it.
What we're looking for
- Real experience selling into health systems. You understand how health systems buy, who the stakeholders are, and why deals stall
- Strong consultative instincts. You listen more than you pitch, and you can hold your own in a conversation with the CEO, the CFO, or the head of a cardiology service line
- A true storyteller with comfort around ambiguity and a builder's mindset. You'd rather help create the playbook than inherit one
- Care about the work. Healthcare is hard, and we want someone who finds that interesting rather than frustrating
- Organized, follow-through-oriented, unafraid to roll up your sleeves and do the work. Honest in how you report what's actually happening in the pipeline, collaborative in coming up with new ideas and solutions to challenges
What we're not looking for
- A pure hunter who lives for outbound cold outreach
- Someone who needs a lot of structure on day one
Why this role is worth your time
- You'll be joining a small team of early adopters and creative thinkers who hold themselves to a high bar. The people who shape the early days of a company have the most room to grow into whatever comes next, and you'll have direct impact on revenue, product, and how we hire from here.
