Congregational Care Coordinator
The Congregational Care Coordinator supports Pathway’s Care Ministry by overseeing support groups and coordinating funeral planning at Pathway.
Supervisor: Congregational Care Director

Hours: Full Time – 40 hours/week

FLSA Status: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Summary:
The position of Congregational Care Coordinator at Pathway Community Church (PCC) plays a vital role in providing oversight for support groups such as our Anxiety Group, Grief Share, Infertility and Loss, by effectively working with and supporting group facilitators. This individual, in conjunction with the Family & Care team, also oversees all aspects of funeral planning held at PCC. The incumbent will seek to use their personal gifts and skills for the benefit of the church by contributing to the overall effectiveness and efficiency of this ministry.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and communication skills, possess strong organizational abilities and flexibility, as well as have the ability to effectively lead volunteer teams. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Tasks are outlined by general work guidelines and/or policies and precedents set with minimal supervision to perform the responsibilities assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by the supervisor. A list of standard tasks anticipated include:
  • Recruit, screen, and train new and established support group facilitators
  • Maintain volunteer resources and make sure documents are up to date
  • Collaborate with Family & Care Team to coordinate funeral preparations, working with families, volunteers, and funeral homes
  • Assist facilities team with set up and tear down for funerals and other Care related events
  • Oversee bereavement follow up workflow and processes and provide bereavement support to families navigating loss
  • Ensure pastoral connection with funeral home and family members for funerals held at PCC and at locations outside of PCC
  • Collaborate with Congregational Care Director to provide leadership development opportunities for support group facilitators
  • Continually appreciate, encourage, pray for, and recognize leaders & volunteers through notes and personal contact
  • In collaboration with the leadership of your Supervisor, aid in the continuous trainings as needed for new and existing leaders and volunteers
  • Oversee support group facilitators and other volunteer teams ensuring that there is consistent communication and smooth functioning of processes.
  • Maintain and monitor support group follow up workflows
  • Collaborate with Family & Care department to provide excellent congregational care (i.e. counseling referrals, community resource referrals, meal trains, one-on-one support, prayer, and as needed assist with benevolence needs and food pantry assistance
  • Maintain and update church database records as needed
  • Assist with Staff-on-Call needs ensuring there is a smooth functioning of all SOC processes
  • Collaborate with department Director to track and manage the funeral and support groups annual budgets
  • Coordinate Care related events and conferences: Memorial Service, Annual Volunteer Appreciation Dinner, and other conferences/events as needed
  • Assist with implementing new mental health initiatives and new support groups
  • Provide administrative support as needed by Department Director

Supervision:
This job has supervisory responsibilities of volunteer team members and leaders and may control work methods,
tasks, and/or other activities assigned.

Adapts to new technologies; uses technology to increase productivity - Use and proficiency of Microsoft Office,
email, and other office PC tools

Offers assistance and support to co-workers and contributes to building a positive team spirit

Uses policies, procedures and precedents set to prioritize and manage competing demands

Is consistently at work and on time; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent

Follows instructions, responds to management direction

Uses time efficiently, utilizing rules and procedures as a guide to decision making and prioritizing

Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness - Completes work in timely manner

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent; preference given to individuals with 2-4 years’ experience, preferably in a care
ministry-related field.
