The Underwriting Support Specialist provides essential administrative and operational support to Underwriters in accordance with established performance standards and guidelines. This role contributes to achieving marketing, underwriting, retention, and service goals while ensuring efficient, accurate, and customer-focused support that promotes sound underwriting outcomes. The Specialist ensures that all activities are completed with a strong emphasis on service excellence and expense management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide timely and accurate support to Underwriters throughout the underwriting process.
- Assist with data entry, documentation, and file management to ensure underwriting files are complete and compliant.
- Communicate with internal teams, agents, and customers to obtain required information and documentation.
- Support underwriting decisions by gathering and verifying information according to company policies and procedures.
- Monitor workflow to ensure timely handling of new and renewal business, endorsements, and policy changes.
- Maintain a customer service–oriented approach in all interactions, promoting professionalism and responsiveness.
- Identify process improvements to enhance efficiency and support overall business goals.
- Perform additional administrative duties as required to support underwriting and operations teams.
Requirements:
- Two (2) years of college or at least one (1) year of equivalent work experience preferred.
- One (1) to two (2) years of experience in the insurance industry required.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent teamwork and collaboration abilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong attention to detail
- Basic negotiation and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with PC applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
