JOB SUMMARY
The Assembly Mechanic is responsible for performing a variety of production assembly functions, which may include assembly, riveting, and sealing operations in accordance with internal procedures, customer requirements, and applicable industry specifications. Work is performed under the direction of, management and supervisory personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform light to mid-level assembly operations using drawings, schematics, and customer specifications to assemble components and subassemblies.
- Use general shop equipment including pneumatic tools, power tools, and hand tools.
- Work with hazardous materials such as sealants, bonding agents, epoxies, and solvents in accordance with safety procedures.
- Utilize production work orders and related documentation to complete assigned tasks.
- Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and properly recorded.
- Identify root causes of quality issues and assist with corrective actions.
- Mentor and assist in training student trainees as assigned.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Detect and report defective equipment, materials, or unsafe conditions to supervision.
- Follow prescribed work instructions, quality standards, and safety regulations at all times.
- Develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with coworkers and supervisors.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency.
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality as scheduled.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Eligibility to work on export-controlled projects as required by applicable laws and regulations.
- Ability to perform mid-level math skills accurately, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to use measuring and inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Ability to follow direction from leads and supervisors to complete assigned tasks.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with coworkers and supervisory personnel, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work requirements.
- Ability to accept feedback and work effectively in a fast-paced or stressful environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment with diverse personalities and communication styles.
- Willingness to take on additional responsibilities and challenges.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work instructions and procedures in English.
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One or more years of experience in the aerospace industry, including work with aerospace drawings and specifications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Definitions:
