PATH is a small, close-knit therapeutic community that provides intensive residential mental health treatment for young adults ages 18 to 30. Direct Support Staff Team Members are responsible for assisting PATH residents in managing emotional challenges and developing essential life skills through coaching, direct support, crisis management, and de-escalation techniques. This role also involves supporting residents with daily living activities, supporting individualized treatment plans, fostering a supportive environment, and ensuring the overall well-being of the community.
This position is well-suited for college students, retirees, or anyone seeking meaningful work in a supportive, community-based setting.
General Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care and supervision to residents in accordance with PATH Program Guidelines while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Identify and report any risks or resident safety concerns.
- Assist residents with daily living activities.
- Support residents in achieving personal goals and fostering independence.
- Follow individualized treatment and support plans as directed by clinical staff.
- Facilitate and engage residents in therapeutic and recreational activities both on and off premises.
- Encourage residents to participate in group sessions and activities.
- Document residents’ changes, behaviors, and any incidents based on PATH requirements.
- Assist with Med Room duties as trained and maintain accurate records.
- Ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all PATH residents.
- Communicate effectively with residents, team members, and families.
- Attend training, and professional development sessions.
- Adhere to confidentiality and ethical guidelines in accordance with PATH policies and Vermont State Regulations.
- Ensure a clean and organized environment by tidying common areas, washing dishes, taking out the garbage, and maintaining overall household cleanliness.
- Carry out additional responsibilities as needed to support PATH residents.
Requirements:
- High school or equivalent education
- Driver’s License
- 1 year caregiving experience preferred, though not required.
