What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher of Social Studies (Anticipated) position at Paterson Public Schools?
- Hold a New Jersey Instructional Certificate in accordance with the requirements of N.J.S.A. 18A:27.1 et seq., and N.J.A.C. Title 6 Chapter 11 with appropriate endorsement(s) for the position held (N.J.A.C. 6:11-6.1, 6.2, or 81. et seq.).
- Have excellent experience in teaching and working with adolescents.
- Hold a valid driver's license with no serious violations.
- Demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of the content field and describer ways in which the content can be organized into lessons for secondary students.
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative.
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis, and research related to learning.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
- Meet such alternatives to above qualifications as the Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g. African American Studies, History, Economics, Social Sciences) is required. A master's degree is strongly preferred.
Experience: Proven experience teaching high school students. Experience with the College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) curriculum and a strong understanding of the AP African American Studies framework is essential. Experience teaching economics or a related social science is also required.
Subject Matter Expertise: Deep knowledge of African American history, culture, and social movements. A solid grasp of economic principles, including microeconomics and macroeconomics.
Salary: $63,130.00 - $101,425.00
