Qualifications
- Hold a New Jersey American Sign Language Teacher certification or Certificate of Eligibility
- Knowledge of "American Sign Language"; "Interpreting ASL"; "Fingerspelling"; "Advanced ASL"; "ASL Syntax and Grammar"; "Basic Hearing Science"; and "Audiology Principles"
- Excellent experience teaching and working with various grade level students
- Have excellent integrity and demonstrate good moral character and initiative
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of teaching American Sign Language child growth and development, effective instructional strategies, classroom management, learning assessment and diagnosis and research related to learning and children needing to learn a second language.
- Exhibit a personality that demonstrates enthusiasm and interpersonal skills to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community
- Demonstrate the ability to use electronic equipment for word processing, data management, digital technology to augment authentic learning, information retrieval, visual and audio presentations, and telecommunications
- Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing. Use proper grammar and vocabulary with students, staff, administration, and the community
- Successful implementation of instructional strategies
- Must be computer literate
- Highly motivated result-driven educator
