What are the responsibilities and job description for the Patent Paralegal position at Patent Law Works LLP?
Silicon Valley/Salt Lake City boutique intellectual property law firm seeks experienced patent paralegal to join our growing team of patent professionals and service our rapidly expanding premier client base.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• 4 years of experience working in a law firm or legal department of a corporation assisting attorneys/agents with U.S. and foreign patent matters, docketing, and patent portfolio management.
• Bachelor’s or associate’s degree with strong academic credentials, or a paralegal certificate.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Exceptional attention to detail and deadlines;
• Professional, self-disciplined, efficient, and able to work independently;
• Willingness to work in a non-traditional law office setting and adapt to diverse client procedures;
• Comfortable supporting attorneys and agents are located remotely;
• Excellent at multi-tasking with the ability to effectively manage and organize priorities;
• In-depth knowledge of patent prosecution rules and procedures (ability to navigate the USC, CFR, and MPEP);
• Familiarity with docketing systems (e.g., Pattsy Wave, Anaqua, Foundation IP, CPI, etc.), private and public PAIR, the USPTO Patent Center, and foreign patent offices’ databases and websites;
• Capable of working in a paperless office environment, maintaining electronic files and proficient at electronic filing with the USPTO;
• Strong computer skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365, Adobe Acrobat and related software;
• Flexibility and ability to adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment;
• Strong writing, typing and editing skills;
• Excellent written and oral communication skills;
• Ability to review correspondence from USPTO and foreign associates and prepare reporting letters to clients in accordance with firm guidelines;
• Ability to prepare budgets and cost estimates for clients;
• Ability to prepare patent family trees and status reports;
• Ability to prepare due diligence charts and track documents; and
• Ability to review and maintain docket.
SALARY:
Commensurate with experience (range $70,000 ).
