Job Summary
The Title Examiner is responsible for reviewing public records, real estate documents, and title reports to determine property ownership and identify issues that may affect title transfer. This role requires strong analytical skills, excellent attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Research and examine property records, deeds, mortgages, taxes, judgments, liens, easements, plats, and other encumbrances
- Analyze chain of title to determine ownership and identify potential risks or defects
- Prepare accurate title commitments, abstracts, and reports in accordance with company and underwriting guidelines
- Resolve title issues by communicating with attorneys, underwriters, lenders, county offices, and other stakeholders
- Review surveys and legal descriptions for accuracy
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations
- Update internal systems and maintain organized documentation
- Support closing and escrow teams by providing clarification and corrections as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional real estate or paralegal education a plus
- Previous experience as a Title Examiner, Title Abstractor, or similar role (required/preferred)
- Strong understanding of real estate documents, title insurance processes, and title laws
- Proficiency with Qualia, Microsoft, and online public record systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Ability to manage multiple files and deadlines
Pay: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00 per year
