What are the responsibilities and job description for the UPK Speech Teacher position at Patchogue-Medford School District?
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan and provide rigorous, engaging instruction addressing NYS curriculum standards.
- Use culturally and linguistically responsive practices to instruct students of varying cultural backgrounds.
- Collaborate with teachers, related service providers and support staff to provide a team-oriented approach.
- Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress, strengths and needs.
- Collect and record data regarding student progress toward established goals.
- Participate in team meetings to provide pre-referral strategies and interventions to support students in general education settings.
- Use a variety of interventions to support progress towards goals before considering referral for evaluations.
- Demonstrate a reflective mindset towards his/her instructional practice.
Job Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess or be eligible for New York State Certification in Speech
- Bilingual candidates preferred
