Position Overview
The Farm Store Associate is a hybrid retail and fulfillment support role responsible for maintaining a clean, well-stocked farm store while assisting with customer orders—especially in-store and online pickup orders.This position requires strong attention to detail, comfort with technology, and the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with the fulfillment and office teams.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys a mix of customer interaction, hands-on work, and behind-the-scenes operations in a fast-paced, small business environment.
Key Responsibilities
Retail & Store Operations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming farm store
- Restock meat freezers, refrigerators, and shelves daily using fulfillment inventory
- Monitor product levels and presentation throughout the day
- Remove damaged or unappealing products according to store procedures
- Complete opening and closing tasks using established daily checklists
- Must be willing and able to drive for weekly deliveries, supply pickups, or occasional farm-related errands,
- Provide support with light farm chores as needed, including egg washing, feeding guard animals, and similar tasks.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned based on operational needs.
Customer Service
- Greet customers and assist with product questions and store navigation
- Support customers with self-checkout and POS use
- Ensure a positive, professional customer experience at all times
- Handle customer issues, replacements, or refunds according to company policy
Order Fulfillment & Pickup
- Assist with fulfilling customer orders, particularly pickup orders
- Accurately pull, verify, and stage pickup orders from freezer storage
- Manage in-store pickup order flow and packing slips
- Communicate order discrepancies or issues promptly with the fulfillment or office team
Inventory, Systems & Communication
- Use iPads, tablets, and computers daily (Shopify POS, barcode systems, Slack)
- Print, apply, and manage product barcodes and pricing
- Assist with basic inventory tracking and restock reporting
- Communicate clearly and proactively with team members via Slack
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Comfortable using computers, tablets, and POS systems
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to follow written procedures and checklists consistently
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Reliable, punctual, and professional
- Able to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs regularly
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Comfortable working in refrigerated and freezer environments
Preferred Qualifications
- Retail, farm store, grocery, or fulfillment experience
- Experience with inventory management or order fulfillment
- Familiarity with Shopify or similar POS systems
- Interest in local food systems or small business operations
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
- Standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout shifts
- Frequent work in cold storage environments
- Fast-paced during peak hours with changing priorities

Compensation
- $18.00 – $20.00 per hour (depending on experience)
- Full-time: approximately 40 hours per week; Monday–Friday (in person only)
