About the Role
As a Medical Assistant, you will play a key role in ensuring a smooth patient experience and supporting clinical staff with both administrative and medical tasks. This role includes managing reception duties, assisting with medical procedures, handling documentation, and supporting physicals, including venipuncture or vaccine preparation and administration as required.
Location(s): Local travel is expected between the offices listed below to support staff. We will do what we can to accommodate a consistent schedule, but business needs may require adjustments. Mileage is reimbursed for travel between locations.
- Primary Location: Baltimore, MD
- Secondary Location: Annapolis, MD
Pay amp; Schedule
- Pay: Starting at $25.00/hour
- Schedule: Monday–Friday, full-time, up to 40 hours/week
- 8:00 am – 4:30 pm, with occasional earlier start times to support client needs
Primary Responsibilities
Administrative Support
- Facilitate efficient clinic operations by supporting the Registered Nurse (RN) and managing front-desk functions.
- Generate and collect payments for invoices.
- Collect, scan, and upload required client documentation into EMR or shared systems.
- Prepare or coordinate the preparation of required documentation for physician appointments.
- Assist with daily clinic operations, including helping walk-in clients and accepting shipments.
- Support business development initiatives as assigned (e.g., local outreach to referring physicians or employers).
Medical Assistance
- Review patient medical histories.
- Prepare and administer vaccines as needed.
- Monitor patients post-vaccine administration.
- Perform venipuncture if the service is required in the local area.
- Receive lab results, inform clients, schedule follow-up appointments as needed, and record and upload results to EMR.
Office Management
- Manage and restock clinic inventory, including medications and vaccines.
- Manage lab supply inventory and ordering if laboratory draws occur in-clinic.
- Oversee supply rotations and maintain cleanliness in all clinical and reception areas.
- Track and document inventory levels to ensure accurate stock counts.
Client amp; Patient Communication
- Exhibit professionalism and effective communication skills in interactions with patients and peers.
- Address customer service issues, complaints, and requests.
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients completing medical exams, including coordinating with Client Services on current or past immigration cases.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 2 year in a clinical setting.
- Certification: Medical Assistant certification (CMA/RMA/CCMA) preferred; current BLS/CPR certification required.
- Language: Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, interpersonal skills, high computer proficiency, and strong written and verbal communication.
- Reliable transportation to travel to your working location each day.
- Attributes: Reliable, punctual, and capable of working in a fast-paced, self-directed environment with minimal supervision.
- A flexible team player who interacts well with individuals from diverse backgrounds and cultures.
Physical Requirements amp; Working Conditions
- Ability to stand and move throughout the clinic for extended periods during shifts.
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens consistent with OSHA guidelines; appropriate PPE and training provided.
- Ability to lift and carry supplies (e.g., vaccine and lab supply shipments) up to 25 lbs as needed.
