We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant specializing in Orthodontics to join our dynamic team. Duties
- Assist orthodontists during patient procedures, including chairside support and handling orthodontic appliances
- Prepare treatment rooms, sterilize instruments, and maintain aseptic techniques in accordance with infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring proper safety measures are followed
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations
- Educate patients on orthodontic care, appliance maintenance, and post-treatment instructions using clear dental terminology
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and updating medical records
- Assist with vital signs measurement and medical documentation for pediatric patients when necessary
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a focus on orthodontics or general dentistry
- Proficiency in EMR systems for managing medical records and documentation
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control standards within dental clinics
- Ability to perform dental X-ray procedures safely and effectively, including pediatric imaging when applicable
- Familiarity with dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and various dental specialties such as Prosthodontics and Endodontics
- Strong understanding of chairside assisting techniques, four-handed dentistry practices, and aseptic procedures
- Experience working with pediatric dentistry patients is highly desirable
- Excellent communication skills to educate patients clearly and compassionately
