Legal Secretary

• Assist in the drafting and managing of resolutions.
• Ensure effective and timely execution of all contracts and agreements approved by resolution.
• Communicate with vendors, County Departments and Passaic County Commissioner’s Office regarding contracts and conduct follow-up as necessary.
• Assist attorneys in preparation for litigation and other special projects.
• Conduct limited legal web-based research.
• Answer phones and provide assistance to callers in a professional manner.
• Maintain attorney calendars as requested.
• Maintain and update legal files.
• Maintain and update spread sheets, including master and working contracts logs of agreements on a timely basis during contract negotiations.
• Provide support with drafting, proof reading, editing, and filing of opinion letters, legal memoranda, court briefings, including e-filing.
• Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management.

Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree, Paralegal Certificate, or one year of equivalent experience required

Experience:

• Basic skill level in Lexis and web-based research
• Experience in the use of a Document Management System a plus
• Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
• Ability to handle privileged, confidential and sensitive information in an appropriate and professional manner
• Excellent organizational skills, record keeping, attention to detail, and time management
• Proactive, and have the ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
• Experience with e-filing on both New Jersey State and Federal District Court systems
• Team player; provide back-up support when available and as needed
