Prep Cook
The Prep Cook at any Smith restaurant is to assist in the preparation of delicious dishes made to recipe in the kitchen with integrity at the forefront. They will perform routine kitchen tasks such as setting up workstations and ingredients, so that food can be prepared according to recipe.
A great Prep Cook is detail oriented, highly organized, and an excellent communicator. They always keep their station impeccable and well stocked to ensure food safety and high-quality dishes. They will work closely with their teammates by communicating powerfully to ensure a smooth operation and enjoyable experience for guests. Commitment, enthusiasm, integrity, humility, sense of team, and grace under pressure are required.
Accountabilities include
- Follow the prep list created by chefs to plan duties
- Label and stock all ingredients on shelves so they can be organized and easily accessible
- Measure ingredients and seasonings to be used in cooking
- Prepare cooking ingredients by washing and chopping vegetables, cutting meat, etc.
- Undertake basic cooking duties such as reducing sauces, parboiling food, etc.
- Maintain an impeccable kitchen by sanitizing surfaces, taking out trash, and properly maintaining and caring for kitchen equipment
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Clock in and out for every shift using kiosk terminal

- Morning and weekend availability.
- Full-time role for summer that can develop into full-time for off season for the right candidate.
- Ability to multi-task and move with urgency and intention in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures
- Accuracy and speed in executing assigned tasks
- Able to lift 20 to 40 pounds
- Able to stand, walk (up and down flights of stairs), reach, for 100% of work time
