POSITION SUMMARY

The purpose of your job position is ensure that all residents receive nutritious, well-prepared and attractively serviced meals which are therapeutically modified as ordered by the attending physician.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Orient and train all employees in their respective duties.

· Instruct all employees in safety, sanitation and proper food handling techniques

· Order and/or purchase necessary food and supplies.

· Maintain records pertaining to resident nutritional care, menus, purchases, and food/supply costs.

· Assist in the development of dietary policies and procedures and monitor compliance.

  • Provide regularly scheduled in service programs.
  • Supervises food production/service to assure that meals are attractive, served at the proper temperature and in the correct portion size.
  • Ensures that the cycle menu is followed. Dates the menu. Makes any necessary changes on the menu and notes the reason why on the reverse. Posts menu in a prominent place in the kitchen. Files past menus for thirty days.
  • Orders all food and supplies. Receives/checks all deliveries as necessary.
  • Prepares a staffing schedule for the department.
  • Instructs employees in the use, care and maintenance of dietary equipment as well as safety and sanitation standards.
  • Establishes a cleaning schedule and monitors compliance.
  • Performs cooking shifts as indicated on staffing schedule.
  • Periodically evaluates the performance of each employee.
  • Makes routine rounds to residents and maintains liaison with other departments.
  • Participates in nutritional care documentation with direction from the Consultant Dietitian.
  • Reports maintenance problems to the Administrator.
  • Delegates, as needed, tasks to other employees.
  • Keep Admission Record up-to-date with Dietary needs of patients.
  • Keep Monthly and Weekly Weight Record up-to-date on resident profile and Diet Tray cards.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS

Education / Licensure

Graduate of a qualified Dietetic Technician or Dietetic Assistant/Dietary Supervisor or CDM (Certified Dietary Manager) training program, or has training and experience in food service supervision in a military service that is state approved.

Qualifications / Experience

Possess the ability to supervise and work well with others

Demonstrates the ability to perform managerial tasks

Possess high standards of personal cleanliness and neatness.

Demonstrates knowledge of basic nutrition

Possess the ability to prepare meals per the available menu

Working Conditions

May encounter frequent interruptions

May be involved with residents, family and government agencies

May be exposed to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses

Physical Requirements

Possess good health and stamina

Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day

Must be able to stand, bend and reach throughout the day

Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time

Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.

I understand as a result of my employment, I may be exposed to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants (including tobacco smoke), and hazardous chemicals and the facility will provide to me instructions on how to prevent and control such exposures. I further understand I may also be exposed to the Hepatitis B virus and the facility will make available to me, free of charge, the Hepatitis B vaccination.

I understand my employment is at‑will, and thereby understand my employment may be terminated at‑will either by the facility or myself and such termination can be made with or without notice.

Pay: $30.00 - $32.00 per hour
