Position Overview
A global aviation services organization is seeking a Head of Sales Operations to lead operational and customer-facing activities within its helicopter and general aviation maintenance business. This role requires strong technical and operational expertise within Part 145 environments, along with the ability to build relationships across the rotary-wing aviation market.
The ideal candidate will bring direct exposure to helicopter maintenance operations, MRO services, and customer engagement within the aviation aftermarket sector. This individual will serve as a key liaison between operations, customers, and leadership while helping drive business growth, operational efficiency, and long-term customer partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support maintenance operations and customer programs within a Part 145 aviation environment.
- Develop and maintain relationships with helicopter operators, aviation departments, MRO providers, and OEM partners across the U.S. East Coast market.
- Partner with operations and technical teams to oversee inspections, repairs, upgrades, refurbishments, and mission system modification programs.
- Support business development initiatives by identifying new opportunities within helicopter and general aviation maintenance markets.
- Serve as a technical-commercial resource for customers, ensuring service quality, operational alignment, and timely issue resolution.
- Coordinate aircraft induction planning, maintenance scheduling, and customer communication throughout project lifecycles.
- Represent the organization at aviation industry events, customer meetings, and trade shows (approximately 50% travel).
- Maintain awareness of market conditions, competitor activity, regulatory requirements, and operational best practices.
Qualifications
- Strong experience within helicopter or general aviation MRO environments, including direct exposure to Part 145 operations.
- Background in helicopter maintenance organizations highly preferred, including experience as a Director of Maintenance, Director of Aviation, Maintenance Manager, or similar technical-operational role.
- Established network within the U.S. East Coast rotary-wing and/or business aviation market.
- Experience supporting or selling aviation maintenance services such as engine, avionics, component, repair, or overhaul programs.
- Familiarity with Leonardo helicopter platforms (AW139, AW109, AW119) and/or Airbus Helicopters (H160, H145) strongly preferred.
- Strong operational leadership, communication, relationship management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work cross-functionally with maintenance, engineering, program management, and commercial teams.
- FAA Part 145 knowledge required; A&P license or related aviation certifications are a plus.
