Job Description
The Food Safety Coordinator supports the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of the farm’s food safety and quality assurance programs. This role ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including FDA FSMA, CDFA standards, and Global G.A.P. or PrimusGFS certification requirements. The coordinator works closely with field operations, harvest crews, and management to maintain safe growing, handling, and packing practices that protect consumers and product quality.

Monday-Friday (Potential OT)
5:00AM or 6:00AM start time full shifts
Pay
$28.00 - $31.00
Job Duties
- Maintain and update the farm’s Food Safety Plan in accordance with FSMA Produce Safety Rule and buyer audit requirements
- Monitor sanitation, employee hygiene, water testing, and chemical use for compliance with internal and regulatory standards
- Conduct and document food safety and worker hygiene training for field and packing crews (English and Spanish if applicable)
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, corrective actions, and training sessions
- Assist with traceability exercises, mock recalls, and product identification procedures
- Prepare for and participate in third-party and customer food safety audits (PrimusGFS, Global G.A.P., SQF, USDA, and similar)
- Investigate and document non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Support internal audits and report findings to the Food Safety Manager
- Ensure sanitation of equipment, harvest tools, and farm sites meets program standards
- Verify pest control, water quality, and compost management programs are properly implemented
- Coordinate with production teams to ensure pre-harvest intervals and chemical application records are compliant
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of experience in food safety or quality assurance, preferably in fresh produce or agricultural operations
- Working knowledge of FSMA, GAP/GHP, and third-party audit programs such as PrimusGFS, Global G.A.P., and SQF
- Strong understanding of California agricultural practices and food safety regulations
- Excellent organizational and recordkeeping skills
- Ability to train staff and communicate effectively with field teams; bilingual English/Spanish preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and digital recordkeeping systems
- Valid driver’s license in good standing required
Pay: $28.00 - $31.00 per hour
