Additionally, Hospice House in Bend, Oregon, is a specialty hospital for inpatient hospice care, creating an oasis of tranquility and comfort for patients and their families. Compensation: $53,019-$68,848, DOE. 
Status: Full Time (salaried exempt) 40 hours per week.
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday-Friday. Work outside of these hours/days may be required.
Location: Centralized administrative office in Bend, and travel throughout Central Oregon is required.

Essential Functions: 
Volunteer Recruitment & Engagement: 
  • Interviews, selects, and assigns volunteers to appropriate administrative and patient care roles, ensuring effective placement based on skills and organizational needs.
  • Conducts annual volunteer evaluations and addresses performance concerns in collaboration with the Volunteer Manager.
  • With the Volunteer Manager, organizes and facilitates monthly volunteer support and education meetings. 
  • Ensures the organization provides appropriate volunteer recognition and appreciation efforts, including the annual recognition event.
Daily Program Operations: 
  • Reviews volunteer notes and communicates content to care teams and IDT meetings. 
  • Oversees the assignment of volunteers to both patient and administrative roles, ensuring optimal matches based on organizational needs, volunteer skills, and availability.
  • Distributes a weekly volunteer email with requests, program updates, and important communications.
  • Notifies volunteers of patient deaths in a timely and compassionate manner.
  • Maintains accurate and organized volunteer database, ensuring compliance with required documentation.
Patient & Interdisciplinary Team Coordination: 
  • Works closely with the interdisciplinary care team to integrate volunteers into patient care plans, updating as necessary.
  • Coordinates volunteer patient activities with the Hospice and Transitions programs to ensure seamless support. 
  • Adheres to the PIC mission and values. Supports the organization.   
Required Skills & Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Arts or Science, preferably in human services or communication.
  • At least two years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Proven ability to supervise, coordinate, and assess volunteer services.
  • Knowledge and understanding of hospice philosophy.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to the needs and experiences of others, with a non-judgmental approach to individuals from diverse backgrounds, values, lifestyles, and age groups.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and dedication to patient care.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to pass a background test, drug screen, and TB test.  
  • Current automobile insurance, valid Oregon driver’s license, and reliable transportation required for those working in the field. 
Work Environment: 
Category 3 ― Position includes tasks that involve no exposure to blood, body fluids, tissues; would not be required to perform Category I tasks. 

Salary : $53,019 - $68,848
