What You Get To Do: The Veterans Outreach Coordinator is responsible for establishing and maintaining positive relationships with Veteran partner organizations. In collaboration with the Chief Operations Officer, this role oversees the implementation of the We Honor Veterans program. Additionally, the coordinator provides outreach support for veterans within the community, ensuring they have access to resources offered by Partners In Care. They also work to position Partners In Care as a trusted source for community education and consultation. This role acts as a liaison between Partners In Care staff and the Department of Veterans Affairs Healthcare and Benefits sections as well as other veteran service organizations in Central Oregon.

  • Builds and monitors community perceptions of Partners In Care as a high quality provider of services for our Veteran community.
  • Provides COO with ongoing reports, both written and verbal of community and contacts and referrals.
  • Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with current and potential veteran referral sources.
  • Works closely with philanthropy manager on securing funding for veteran related initiatives.
  • Provides annual training to Partners In Care staff members as required of the We Honor Veterans program.
  • Supports clinical admin team in best practices for tracking veteran information for hospice patients. Provide training where necessary.
  • Track veteran data annually for reporting purposes.
  • Conducts pinning and recognition ceremonies to honor Veterans for their service.
  • Conducts periodic Vet2Vet trainings in coordination with the Volunteer Coordinator.
  • Attends Veterans organization meetings i.e. Band of Brothers, Marine Corps League, VFW, etc.
  • Acts as a representative on groups such as Central Oregon Veterans Council.
  • Attends community events outside normal working hours as needed.
  • Assists with events, health fairs, community displays with Veteran resource information.
  • Complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to the PIC mission and values. Supports the organization.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Served in the military (must provide DD-214 or information showing current service in National Guard or Reserves).
  • BA/BS/Marketing degree or equivalent in applicable experience, with preferred concentration in Communications, Marketing, or related field.
  • Proficient with various forms of technology for the purposes of communication and data tracking and reporting.
  • Understanding of Department of Veterans Affairs ecosystem.
  • Background in healthcare preferred.
  • Knowledge and understanding of support resources in Central Oregon preferred.
  • Experience/understanding of psychosocial issues related to illness and end-of-life care.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrates excellent observation, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Compassion, empathy, and dedication to patient care.
  • Ability to pass a background test, drug screen, and TB test.
  • Current automobile insurance, valid Oregon driver’s license, and reliable transportation required for those working in the field.
