What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full Stack Software Engineer position at Parthian Battery Solutions?
About Parthian
Parthian is on a mission to unlock seamless battery circularity by making second-life battery transactions as trusted and easy as shopping on Amazon. We've built proprietary inspection software that offers transparency into a battery’s TRUE state of health and remaining useful life, giving buyers complete confidence in battery quality. We're creating a marketplace that brings warranty-backed trust to the second-life battery industry.
The Opportunity
We're looking for an exceptional full-stack software engineer to build our marketplace from the ground up. This is a contract role running through the end of December 2025, with one clear goal: launch a live, fully functional marketplace where our first transaction happens before the new year.
This role is perfect for someone who thrives in high-ambiguity environments, thinks like a product owner, and can move fast without sacrificing quality. You'll work directly with our CTO and CEO, making critical technical and product decisions independently.
What You'll Build
Your primary mission is to create a scalable marketplace platform that enables sellers and buyers to seamlessly discover, list, and transact batteries. Specifically, you'll be responsible for:
1] Building user authentication and onboarding flows for both sellers and buyers, making it simple for anyone to create an account and get started on the platform.
2] Developing robust product discovery features that help buyers find exactly the batteries they need and help sellers showcase their inventory effectively.
3]Integrating payment processing to enable secure, seamless transactions between buyers and sellers.
4] Connecting with our existing inspection point software to ensure quality assurance data flows into the marketplace experience.
5] Designing and implementing a scalable architecture that can grow with Parthian as we expand beyond our initial launch.
6] Creating comprehensive technical documentation so the next engineer can pick up where you leave off without missing a beat.
What Success Looks Like
By December 31, we expect to have a live marketplace where real buyers and sellers can complete actual transactions. The platform needs to be reliable, secure, and built on a foundation that can scale. Your code should be well-documented, your architecture decisions should be clearly explained, and the handoff to future team members should be seamless.
The first transaction completing successfully on the platform will be a major milestone. Beyond that, we're looking for evidence of thoughtful engineering: clean code, smart architectural choices, proper error handling, and security best practices baked in from day one.
Who You Are
You have significant experience building and shipping web applications from scratch. You've worked on e-commerce platforms or marketplaces before and understand what it takes to create a great buying and selling experience. You're comfortable with both frontend and backend development and can make smart technology choices based on the problem at hand rather than personal preference.
You've integrated third-party payment systems like Stripe or PayPal and know how to handle transactions securely. You understand the importance of user experience and think about products from the customer's perspective, not just the technical perspective.
Most importantly, you're someone who can work independently in an uncertain environment. You don't need detailed specifications for every feature. You can take a high-level goal, ask the right questions, make reasonable assumptions, and deliver something that works. You communicate clearly about tradeoffs and bring a strong point of view while remaining open to feedback.
Experience interfacing with IoT systems, field inspection software, or similar technical integrations is a strong plus but not required.
Technical Environment
We're technology-agnostic for this role. Use whatever modern tech stack you believe will deliver the best results for a scalable marketplace. What matters is your ability to justify your choices, execute quickly, and build something maintainable.
You should be deeply familiar with web application architecture, database design, API development, authentication and authorization, payment processing integration, and cloud deployment. The specific languages and frameworks are less important than your ability to use them effectively.
Working at Parthian
This is a fully remote position with flexible hours. You'll have regular check-ins with our CTO and CEO, but you'll largely be setting your own schedule and managing your own time. We value results over hours worked.
We're a startup, which means things change quickly and you'll need to be comfortable with that pace. We also offer competitive contract compensation commensurate with your experience.
How to Apply
Send your resume along with links to previous marketplace, e-commerce, or similar projects you've built. We want to see your code and understand your approach to building products. GitHub repositories, live demos, or case studies are all great.
