What are the responsibilities and job description for the Luxury Furniture Delivery & Installation Specialist — Part-Time position at Parker Receiving & Design Services?
$22–$28 per hour Tips | Part-Time | Monday–Friday | No Weekends
Parker Receiving & Design Services is seeking an experienced, dependable, and detail-oriented professional to join our white glove delivery and installation team on a part-time basis.
This is not package delivery and it's not traditional moving. We specialize in receiving, transporting, and installing luxury furniture, antiques, artwork, rugs, and designer furnishings for interior designers and homeowners throughout the Charleston area.
Previous professional experience handling furniture is required for this position. We're looking for someone who already understands how to safely lift, carry, wrap, load, secure, and maneuver furniture and can step comfortably into an experienced delivery and installation crew.
The ideal candidate enjoys hands-on work, appreciates quality craftsmanship, and takes pride in handling valuable furnishings and working inside clients' homes with care and precision.
What You'll Do
As a Part-Time Luxury Furniture Delivery & Installation Specialist, you'll work alongside our delivery and installation team to:
- Load, blanket-wrap, secure, and transport luxury furniture, antiques, artwork, rugs, and accessories
- Deliver, assemble, and place furnishings in clients' homes
- Safely maneuver furniture through doorways, stairways, elevators, and finished residential spaces
- Assist with furniture placement according to designer floor plans and project instructions
- Protect floors, walls, doorways, and other finished surfaces during deliveries and installations
- Inspect furniture before and during delivery to help ensure items arrive in excellent condition
- Assist with receiving, staging, loading, and preparing deliveries in our warehouse
- Safely move large, heavy, delicate, and high-value furnishings as part of a team
- Communicate professionally with interior designers, homeowners, contractors, and coworkers
- Help maintain company vehicles, tools, equipment, and warehouse areas
- Drive company Sprinter vans and box trucks when needed and qualified to do so
Every project is different. One day you may be installing furnishings in a historic downtown Charleston home, and the next you may be delivering custom furniture to a newly completed luxury residence on Kiawah Island.
What We're Looking For
The right candidate:
- Has previous professional experience handling and moving furniture
- Understands proper furniture wrapping, lifting, carrying, loading, and handling techniques
- Is dependable, punctual, and takes pride in professional work
- Is physically capable of repeatedly lifting, carrying, pushing, and moving furniture weighing 75 pounds as part of a team
- Pays close attention to detail and works carefully rather than rushing
- Understands how to work safely around finished floors, walls, doorways, and other surfaces
- Treats clients' homes and furnishings with respect
- Communicates professionally with clients and coworkers
- Works well as part of a small team
- Takes direction well while also showing initiative
- Has reliable transportation to and from our Charleston warehouse
A valid driver's license and clean driving record are strongly preferred. Candidates who meet our commercial insurance requirements may also drive company Sprinter vans and box trucks.
An interest in interior design, fine furniture, antiques, historic homes, architecture, art, woodworking, craftsmanship, or historic preservation is a plus.
