Business Development & Marketing Assistant
FLSA Status: Non-exempt
Supervisor: Business Development & Marketing Manager
Location: Atlanta, Georgia
In-Office Expectation: Minimum of 3 days/week; more if needed
Summary: The Business Development & Marketing Assistant is responsible for supporting a wide range of business development and marketing initiatives across the firm. The Business Development & Marketing Assistant is responsible for administrative support of the firm’s Business Development & Marketing team members, including calendaring, email drafting, content drafting, preparing for events, etc. Reporting to the Business Development & Marketing Manager (“Manager”), this role is extremely collaborative and requires frequent communication across practices, departments, and internal team members, including the firm’s Chief Business Development Officer (“CBDO”).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs or particular client or matter demands.
- Coordinate conference room reservations for meetings, events, etc.
- Interface with the firm’s Events Coordinator regarding food and beverage orders for events
- Manage vendor relationships related to events
- Assist with planning and execution of all aspects of client events, including seminars, dinners and happy hours, conference-related events, and virtual events; prepare event-related materials and invitations, track responses and maintain event calendar.
- Make updates and edits to the firm's website, including attorney bios, content, news, etc. and make corresponding updates to the firm’s social media accounts.
- Assist in the preparation of client pitch, proposal, RFP response, presentation materials, ads, client alerts, articles and other marketing collateral.
- Assist in coordinating the submission of client questionnaires, survey responses, awards and directory submissions, including the collection of responses from all internal departments and lawyers, reviewing responses for grammatical errors, etc.
- Track strategic business development goals and activities to advance practice group and individual lawyer initiatives within the firm’s CRM system and other tracking documents.
- Manage the data in the firm’s CRM system, including updating contact information and mailing lists.
- Prepare compilation of robust competitive intelligence in support of business development initiatives, using firm resources.
- Facilitate benefit fulfillment of firm sponsorships.
- Support marketing and business development tactics for firm’s membership in Meritas, a global law firm network.
- Other duties to assist the CBDO and/or the Manager on special projects and routine department tasks.
Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university preferred; experience in a law firm is preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities: Microsoft Office365 (including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); use of a document management system (e.g., iManage), PDF writer/editing software; excellent spelling, grammar and communication skills; effective verbal and written communicator; strong attention to detail and follow-through; excellent word processing skills; professional phone skills; excellent organizational skills; ability to set and manage priorities; ability to meet deadlines; ability to multi-task; attention to detail on all projects, including ability to proof own work carefully, as well as that of others when required.
Additional preferences: Experience with Adobe InDesign and Photoshop and a CRM (client relationship management system) is preferred
