What are the responsibilities and job description for the Laboratory Technician/Jr. Chemist position at Parker Americas Inc.?
General Summary:
Supports the development of new products/procedure and/or improving existing products/procedures for the new Research & Development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Research, formulate and develop new products.
2. Leads projects and develop timelines as assigned.
3. Performs all aspects of product development, assisting laboratory/production team in building and improving the products.
4. Develops and executes qualification and validation tests; perform special testing of materials.
5. Analyze data, prepare reports and make recommendations.
6. Participates in the laboratory/quality/production meetings; provide suggestions for the production conditions improvements.
7. Prepare Lab test data, prepare laboratory reports and upload to R&D database.
8. Develops and implement product specifications and standard operating procedures for production processes and formulations.
9. Performs physical testing to define material/product properties. (Instron tensile testing, adhesion testing, peel testing, TGA, DSC, FTIR testing.)
10. Investigates and evaluates new raw materials for use in new or existing products.
11. Prepare required R&D documentation, as required by the company guidelines.
12. Ensures the department maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
13. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
For this position, it is desirable to have a college degree in Chemistry, polymer science or prior experience in a polymer lab. Non degree holders with good communication and written skills, computer skills willing to learn are highly considered.
Polymer or laboratory experience 1 years (desirable but not required)
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Must be able to travel domestically or internationally if necessary.
