Litigation Attorney — Parisi Law Firm, LLC (Jefferson, GA)

I'll be honest with you about what this job is before you waste your time applying.

I've built this firm case by case. I've handled the intake calls, worked up the files, taken the depositions, fought the adjusters, and tried the cases. The systems here exist because I ran them myself first. I'm not hiring someone to come figure out how to practice law for me. I'm hiring someone to step into a process that already works, to help improve that process, and eventually run it better than I do.

What you'd actually be doing

Mostly plaintiff-side personal injury litigation: car and truck wrecks, slip and falls, dog bites. You'll draft and answer discovery, take and defend depositions, argue motions, work up cases for mediation, and try cases with me.

There will also be business litigation and transactional work mixed in (contracts, liens, collections, small business disputes, etc.).

You will have support. Two paralegals, a law clerk, a marketing director who keeps the phone ringing, and me. You won't be handed hundreds of files and told good luck. We keep caseloads small on purpose because that's how you actually win and how clients actually get called back.

Who I'm looking for

A purpose-driven advocate, not a mercenary.

A mercenary works the file when the fee looks good and leaves when someone offers more. A purpose-driven advocate understands that our clients are usually having the worst year of their life, that they're up against an insurance company with unlimited resources, and that our job is to stand between the two. The fee is the result of doing that well. It is not the point.

Non-negotiables:

  • You believe in the work. Plaintiff work only makes sense if you think the little guy deserves a real lawyer. If you're indifferent about which side of the v. you're on, we're not a fit. You have to care about the hard-working people we represent.
  • You're hungry, and you can prove it. I need someone who is a "go-getter," not someone who will wait to be told what to do and how to do it. Show me evidence of it somewhere in your life rather than a line on a resume. Grades from a hard school, a business you built, a job you worked through law school, a thing you got good at because you refused to be bad at it.
  • You communicate. Clients get called back. Every time. This is the fastest way to lose a job here.
  • You can take brutal honesty and give it. I'll tell you when your brief isn't there yet. I expect you to tell me when you think I'm wrong about a case.
  • Georgia Bar license, active and in good standing. 2 years of experience preferred, but I'll take the right person with less.

What I'm going to ask you in the interview

What do you do outside of work? Go deep on it. I want to hear about the thing you're unreasonably serious about, whatever it is. People who go deep on something outside of work know how to put in the work inside of it.

What we offer

  • $90,000.00 base, depending on experience, plus bonus structure.
  • Bar dues, CLE, and malpractice coverage.
  • A real path. I'm not building a place where associates are dispensable, low-paid labor. If you're the right person, together we will map out a path for your career growth.
  • A small but booming town (in one of the country's fastest growing counties), a low cost of living, no Atlanta traffic, and a firm with a name people around here trust.

How to apply

Email jerry@parisifirm.com with your resume and a short writing sample. Skip the cover letter. Instead, answer these three in the body of the email:

  • Why plaintiff work?
  • Tell me about something outside of law you've gotten genuinely good at.
  • Tell me about a time you were wrong about a case, a client, or a call you made, and what you did about it.
