JOB DESCRIPTION – Architectural Metal Fabricator
Job Overview
The Architectural Metal Fabricator is an experienced fabricator with 4 years experience. This role requires expertise working with materials such as steel, aluminum, stainless steel, brass & bronze to produce top quality architectural pieces.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and Interpret Blueprints: Understand engineering blueprints and technical drawings to comprehend project specifications.
- Measure and Cut Materials: Accurately measure and cut metal materials using hand tools, power tools, or machinery. Assist with as-built site measurements documentation and archiving.
- Shape and Form Metals: Bend, shape, and form metal components using hand or hydraulic tools. Cold and hot worked processes.
- Welding and Soldering: Weld or solder metal components together using various techniques to create the desired structures. Primarily MIG & TIG processes. Oxy-acetylene, laser, and stick welding experience are not required but valued. Free table fitting and fixture table setup experience preferred. Experience welding and fitting on-site not required but valued.
- Installation: Install metal components according to blueprint specifications, ensuring proper fit and alignment. Maintain a safe and clean remote work-site. Maintain a professional and clean appearance relative to attire and hygiene. Communicate effectively and professionally with site superintendents, clientele, and other trades. Work in an efficient yet cautious manner so as to avoid property and product damage. Bring forth safety concerns on-site to direct supervisor and/or site supervisor as well as any other trades perceived to be in immediate danger. Site compliance in general is of the utmost importance. Driving to jobsites, and procurement is a shared responsibility amongst the team, having a valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to qualify for coverage through our auto insurer.
- Quality Control: Inspect finished products for quality and compliance with safety standards. Call-out and rectify discrepancies before installing or delivering product.
· Problem Solving: Address and resolve any issues or challenges that arise during a project.
- Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment to ensure safe and optimal functionality. Contribute to maintaining a clean, organized shop and personal workspace.
- Collaboration: Work closely with design engineers and project managers to ensure that each project meets aesthetic requirements, is designed to fit the intended space, and is both practical to fabricate and within the budget.
- Consumables: Maintain shop consumables inventory.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the newest techniques and methods in metal fabrication.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational or technical training in metal fabrication or welding is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in metal fabrication, welding, or a related field is required. Minimum 4 years as an architectural/ornamental fabricator required.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail, good hand-eye coordination, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to read and interpret blueprints.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in physically demanding environments and perform tasks that require strength and dexterity
