Manufacturing Quality Inspector

Position Overview

Paragon Manufacturing Corp is seeking an experienced Quality Inspector to support the inspection of wire harnesses, cable assemblies, electro-mechanical assemblies, and incoming components in a structured manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is comfortable working from engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and workmanship standards. You will perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections and work directly with Production, Engineering, and Quality when a product or process does not meet requirements.

The right person for this role is thorough, consistent, and willing to raise concerns when something does not look right. We value inspectors who understand that quality is not simply finding defects at final inspection—it is helping identify issues early enough to prevent them from moving through production.

Experience inspecting wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or electro-mechanical products is strongly preferred.

This position may require access to technical data controlled under U.S. export-control laws, including ITAR. Candidates must be eligible to access controlled information as required for the position.

Responsibilities

• Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections of materials, components, wire harnesses, cable assemblies, and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Inspect products against engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, purchase order requirements, and applicable workmanship standards.
• Verify dimensions, assembly configuration, workmanship, continuity, and other required product characteristics.
• Use inspection and test equipment such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters, continuity testers, rulers, and hipot testers.
• Identify and document nonconforming material or workmanship and ensure affected product is properly controlled.
• Maintain clear and accurate inspection records, test results, and supporting quality documentation.
• Communicate inspection findings with Production, Engineering, and Quality and assist in resolving issues before product moves forward.
• Support corrective actions and process improvements by providing accurate inspection findings and defect information.
• Verify inspection and test equipment is within its required calibration period before use.
• Support internal audits and other Quality department activities as needed.
• Follow applicable requirements and procedures associated with ISO 9001, ISO 13485, IPC/WHMA-A-620, and J-STD-001.
• Follow company safety procedures and PPE requirements.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of quality inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, specifications, and inspection requirements.
• Experience using common inspection or electrical test equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document inspection results.
• Ability to identify defects or discrepancies and communicate them clearly to Production and Quality.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where priorities may change based on production needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Quality inspection experience involving wire harnesses, cable assemblies, or electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Working knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 and/or J-STD-001.
• Experience working within an ISO 9001 or ISO 13485 quality system.
• Experience with ERP, manufacturing, or electronic quality-record systems.
• Familiarity with nonconformance reporting, corrective actions, or calibration systems.

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly Pay: $20.00 – $23.00 per hour (based on experience)

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

• Frequent interaction with Production and Engineering teams
• Periodic exposure to production floor noise and manufacturing equipment
• PPE required in designated areas
• Combination of sitting, standing, and walking throughout the workday
• Manual dexterity required for handling small parts, tools, and inspection equipment
• Close vision and ability to adjust focus when inspecting components
• Regular hearing and speaking requirements
• Ability to safely lift and carry up to 45 pounds frequently within an 8-hour shift
