Anticipated Opening: September 2026
Program: Substance Use Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Paradox Health is seeking a compassionate and dependable Licensed Professional Counselor or Licensed Social Worker to join our new substance use treatment program opening in September 2026. This position will begin part-time during the program’s initial growth and is expected to transition into a full-time role as the client population increases.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive biopsychosocial and substance use assessments.
  • Conduct intake evaluations and determine clients’ clinical needs.
  • Use ASAM criteria to assist with level-of-care recommendations.
  • Assess clients for safety concerns, including suicidal or homicidal ideation.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and measurable clinical goals.
  • Provide individual counseling and facilitate therapeutic groups as needed.
  • Complete treatment-plan reviews, progress notes, discharge summaries, and other required clinical documentation.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment-team meetings.
  • Monitor clients’ progress and recommend continued care, step-down services, or referrals.
  • Provide crisis intervention, safety planning, relapse-prevention support, and discharge planning.
  • Coordinate care with medical providers, case managers, peer recovery specialists, families, and community resources.
  • Maintain compliance with HIPAA, Medicaid, licensing, and organizational standards.
  • Perform other appropriate clinical duties as the program grows.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or a related behavioral-health field.
  • Current Virginia license or eligible credential, such as LPC, LCSW, LMSW, Resident in Counseling, or Supervisee in Social Work.
  • Experience working with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or co-occurring disorders is preferred.
  • Knowledge of clinical assessments, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and evidence-based practices.
  • Familiarity with ASAM criteria and Medicaid documentation requirements is preferred.
  • Strong communication, organization, time-management, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Compassionate, nonjudgmental, dependable, and recovery-focused approach.

Schedule and Growth

  • Position will begin part-time with a flexible schedule based on client-assessment and program needs.
  • Hours are expected to increase as enrollment grows.
  • Candidate must be interested in transitioning into a full-time position when available.
  • Some virtual assessments or services may be available depending on program and client needs.
