Position: Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) Skill Builder

Area: Human/Social Services

Primary Location: Lincoln and surrounding areas

Organization: Paradigm, Inc., is committed to providing agencies with quality in-home services in the health and human services field. We serve children and families through referrals from the Division of Children and Family Services and Juvenile Probation with the following service needs:

• Parenting Skills / Monitored Visitation
• Family Support
• Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) / IFP Skill Building

Description: Paradigm, Inc., is seeking an Intensive Family Preservation (IFP) Skill Builder to form a team paired with an IFP Therapist. This individual performs a variety of duties and tasks to coordinate and implement services based on a case plan developed and facilitated by a Children and Family Services’ Workers or Juvenile Probation Officers. The overall goals of the service is to prevent abuse/neglect of children, strengthen families, assist in providing permanency for children in care, and/or to enhance community safety. The Skill Builder will focus on stabilization issues, child/parental skill acquisition, improved family functioning, increase parent/child interactions and community engagement for support with children/youth and families. Skill Builders will provide coaching, skill application and mentoring to ensure appropriate parenting skills during sessions with children.

Skill Building: Provision of structured, goal-oriented learning sessions related to the referral for family members who require safety and protection from physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse, or neglect.

Qualifications and Requirements :

• Training and Experience : Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work (preferred) human services, psychology or related area (preferred), and/or equivalent experience; and a minimum of two years’ experience in the human services field (preferred). Clear criminal history background and adult/child abuse checks. Valid driver’s license and good driving history.
• Knowledge & Skills : A thorough knowledge of effective parenting is expected. Effective skills should be demonstrated in dealing with families involved in abuse/neglect situations as well as those involved in juvenile delinquency issues. A thorough knowledge of community resources is expected. Skill Builders will follow rules of confidentiality and demonstrate CARES in working with all families, coworkers, and others. Demonstrated successful ability to work independently and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills. Solid communication and computer skills.
