Senior Category Manager - Strategic Sourcing (Heavy Fabrication)

Job Description

We are looking for a Category Manager - Heavy Fabrication, who will deliver measurable results in supplier performance, cost optimization, and supply chain resilience.

This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role where success is defined by the ability to ensure suppliers deliver on cost, compliance, quality, and schedule, directly impacting project execution and customer satisfaction. As a Sr. Category Manager, you will also be the key Supply Chain interface to our Critical Handling Solutions business (nuclear/environmental crane) projects, with a focus on support alignment and proactive engagement.

Not only do you bring passion to how organizations strengthen their supply base capability; you also bring deep knowledge about what it takes to execute on critical project deliverables. In this role you will team with cross-functional partners in support of new programs/projects, and lead development of a robust supply base to support growth in our nuclear business.

Your ability to negotiate supplier agreements that secure favorable terms while ensuring compliance with regulatory, industry, and other (AS9100, DFARS, NQA-1, and ISO 9001) requirements will help you hit the ground running. Being able to mitigate supply chain risks by implementing supplier management plans that protect project performance is key. Driving cost opportunities and efficiency gains doesn’t happen with luck; it requires using supplier relationship management skills, analytics, market intelligence, and digital tools to report measurable results to leadership.

We offer market competitive pay and benefits based upon the candidate’s skills, experience, qualifications, and internal equity. Our starting rate of pay for this salaried position is targeted at $130,000-$150,000 annually.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field.
• 6–10 years of strategic sourcing/category management experience, preferably in aerospace, defense, or nuclear industries.
• Proven success in supplier qualification, transitions, negotiation, and performance management in regulated, project-based environments.
• Technical fluency with fabrication processes (welding, machining, precision assembly) and the ability to interpret drawings and specs.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and analytics platforms (Sievo, Incorta, Tableau, Power BI).
• Strong track record in negotiation, problem solving, and supplier accountability under demanding schedules.
• Proven experience managing multi-tier, logistically complex supply chains
• Supply Chain certification (CPSM, CSCP, CPM) is preferred.
