Senior Strategic Sourcing Category Manager Procurement

Required Education

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Procurement, or a related field, and seven (7) years of experience in procurement or a related field.

Required Qualifications/Skills/Experience

• Experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or a related field.
• Demonstrated experience executing Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and/or competitive bidding processes.
• Demonstrated negotiation skills with suppliers and internal stakeholders to maximize value, ensure standardization, resolve disputes, and achieve optimal outcomes.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders to achieve business objectives.
• Ability to research, analyze data, evaluate market conditions, and derive actionable insights.
• Strong verbal and written communication, relationship-building, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
• Ability to learn additional systems and work effectively in a team environment.

Procurement Sourcing Category Strategist Overview

The Procurement Sourcing Category Strategist manages larger, more complex strategic sourcing initiatives within cross-functional teams. This role leads expense reduction efforts and vendor-related engagements for assigned business units or strategic categories, supporting business objectives through cost optimization, supplier management, competitive bidding, and contract negotiations. The position regularly interacts with senior and executive-level stakeholders to drive sourcing strategies, improve efficiencies, and deliver business value.

Job Duties

• Lead strategic sourcing initiatives and competitive bidding activities for assigned business units or categories.
• Develop and execute Requests for Proposals (RFPs), solicit supplier responses, analyze proposals, prepare recommendations, and negotiate contracts to improve efficiencies and reduce costs.
• Establish cross-functional teams and define business objectives for sourcing initiatives.
• Identify qualified bidding suppliers, configure RFPs within the bank’s procure-to-pay (P2P) system, manage the bidding process, and collaborate with business stakeholders to develop sourcing recommendations.
• Partner with key stakeholders and senior leaders to identify and implement supplier-related expense reduction opportunities.
• Analyze market and industry conditions to develop procurement strategies for non-IT goods.
• Communicate corporate procurement standards and requirements to vendors and business partners.
• Ensure RFPs and contracts meet organizational business requirements and applicable legal standards.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior procurement consultants, supporting skill development and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Serve as a team lead or supervise entry-level procurement consultants, as needed.
• Collaborate with Procurement Strategic Sourcing Technology Consultants on relevant projects.
• This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.
• This position is incentive eligible.
