This leader will design and execute a scalable shared services model that enhances efficiency, accuracy, and consistency across financial operations. The role will oversee centralized accounting teams, standardize processes, drive automation, and ensure exceptional service delivery to internal business units and project teams.
Responsibilities
- Develop and lead the Finance Shared Services organization, establishing a scalable structure and roadmap that centralizes AR, AP, and Project Accounting in alignment with corporate financial goals.
- Standardize and optimize financial processes across all business units through consistent policies, workflows, and controls.
- Oversee Accounts Receivable to ensure timely and accurate invoicing, efficient cash application, and proactive collections to improve working capital and reduce DSO.
- Manage Accounts Payable to maintain vendor accuracy, timely payments, and compliance with internal controls, tax, and procurement policies.
- Lead Project Accounting operations including project setup, job costing, WIP analysis, and billing coordination to ensure accurate project reporting and profitability tracking.
- Drive automation and leverage ERP systems and digital tools to streamline workflows and enhance data integrity.
- Ensure financial compliance and audit readiness, maintaining strong internal controls in accordance with GAAP and company policies.
- Oversee performance reporting for AR, AP, and Project Accounting to identify trends, resolve bottlenecks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Partner cross-functionally with Finance, Operations, and IT leadership to enhance collaboration and service delivery.
- Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing shared services team focused on accountability, customer service, and operational excellence.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or MBA preferred).
- 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 5 years in leadership.
- Proven success in building or leading a Finance Shared Services organization.
- Experience in the AEC or professional services industry with strong knowledge of project accounting.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and project-based accounting principles.
- Strategic thinker with proven operational execution capabilities.
- Exceptional leadership, change management, and team development skills.
- Analytical, process-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Proficiency with ERP and BI tools (Deltek preferred); advanced Excel and data analysis skills.
