Director of Finance & Accounting

A growing construction organization is seeking an experienced Director of Finance & Accounting to lead and strengthen its accounting and financial operations.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable leading a team and rolling up their sleeves. The ideal candidate will help improve processes, develop the accounting team, strengthen financial reporting, and provide meaningful financial insight to executive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead accounting and finance operations
- Manage and develop the accounting team
- Oversee month-end close, financial reporting, cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting
- Remain hands-on with GL, reconciliations, payroll, AR/AP, and billing as needed
- Oversee construction accounting including job costing, WIP, percentage-of-completion, retainage, and project profitability
- Improve accounting processes, controls, systems, and reporting
- Partner with operations and leadership on financial analysis and business decisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field
- 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience
- 3 years of accounting leadership or management experience
- Strong financial reporting, GL, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management experience
- Proven ability to build and develop an accounting team
- Advanced Excel and strong systems aptitude
- Construction accounting experience strongly preferred
- Sage 100 Contractor, Procore, TimberScan/AvidXchange, or similar systems experience is a plus
- CPA preferred, but not required
