What You'll Do
The Director of High Explosives Engineering at Pantex provides strategic leadership and technical oversight for all engineering activities related to the manufacturing and qualification of high explosives components for the nuclear weapons stockpile. This pivotal role bridges fundamental design from National Design Laboratories with practical manufacturing execution at Pantex, ensuring the producibility, reliability, and safety of components critical to the nation's nuclear deterrent. The Director leads a highly skilled team of Senior Managers, Managers, and Engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, innovation, and rigorous adherence to specifications. Key Responsibilities include: develop and implement strategic engineering plans that align with Pantex's mission and the National Nuclear Security Administration objectives and requirements for high explosives components; drive technical innovation and continuous improvement in high explosives component design, manufacturing processes, and qualification methodologies; ensure the long-term engineering capabilities and expertise are sustained to meet evolving stockpile needs and challenges; provide strong technical and managerial leadership to Senior Managers, Managers, and Engineers within the High Explosives Engineering division; and ensure all engineering activities adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, security, and environmental compliance.
Minimum Job Requirements
In addition to the above requirements, the applicant must also meet the requirements of DOE O 426.2A (i.e., Baccalaureate in engineering or related science and 4 years nuclear experience, or a DOE O 426.2A alternative). DOE O 426.2A experience requirements can be satisfied following employment. In the interim, newly hired personnel will not be assigned duties that could impact the safety basis of nuclear facilities. Preferred Job Requirements
Minimum five years of supervisory/management experience. Candidates with less years of supervisory/management experience will be required to complete a developmental plan approved by the Division Director or their delegate.

- Bachelor's Degree and minimum 12 years of relevant experience.
- OR Applicants without a Bachelor's Degree may be considered based on a combination of at least 20 years of completed education and/or relevant experience.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory/ management experience.
