Pay: $114,000 - $130,000, depending on qualifications

Job Type: Full-time preference; Part-time applicants will be considered

Work Location: In person in Hayden, ID or outlying clinics

The Advanced Practice Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care across a wide variety of medical problems, with emphasis on adult preventive care and management of chronic disease. This includes diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive care, in addition to healthy lifestyle promotion within five counties. Do you have a specific medical interest? Job Duties

  • Interpretation of laboratory tests and follow-up with patients for abnormal results and health problems
  • Longitudinal follow-up of patients across many age groups
  • Informed consent and individualized recommendations for people seeking vaccinations
  • Ability to address social, emotional, and/or behavioral needs of patients that may impact treatment adherence, including mental health and substance abuse issues
  • Collaboration with administrators in activities and practices that contribute to the efficient use of resources
  • Meet regularly with leadership to review the financial performance of clinic services, evidence-based medical practices, and patient visit quality standards
  • Assist leadership in determining the proper focus and program direction of the clinics based on patient and individual county needs
  • Provide oversight and teaching to MA’s and nursing staff in clinics
  • Willingness to participate in teaching activities of other healthcare professionals, as needed
  • Complete all required screenings as required by grant funding sources
  • Independently input, update, and manage patient data within the electronic health record system
  • Travel to outlying clinics required. Outlying clinics include Sandpoint, Kellogg, Bonner’s Ferry and St. Maries, Idaho
  • Must be an effective communicator with patients, colleagues, staff and leadership and be able to effectively communicate with patients in person, by phone and/or remote conferencing
  • Other duties as assigned and consistent with job classification

Qualifications/Proficiencies

  • An Idaho APRN license is required through the Idaho Department of Nursing. The Department of Nursing operates under the Division of Occupational and Professional Licenses (DOPL) in Idaho
  • Idaho Board of Pharmacy prescribing privileges
  • BLS certification (Required)
  • Proficient in independent direct patient care, including prevention, medical evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients, often with complex medical problems. On-the-job orientation training available during probationary period
  • Driver's license (Idaho or Washington)
  • National Incident Management System (NIMS)/Incident Command System (IS)100, 700 within one (1) month of employment

Because all Health Department personnel are required to respond to public health emergencies, employees must be able to perform the following activities:

  • Climbing stairs, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, lifting, grasping, feeling, writing, and repetitive motions
  • Occasionally lift or move objects up to 30 pounds
  • Hearing ability sufficient to communicate effectively in person and over the phone
  • Visual ability sufficient to read typewritten documents, computer screens, and drive a car
