Job Summary We are looking for a reliable, patient, and energetic Direct Support Professional (DSP) to provide one-on-one support for a 23-year-old male with Autism in the Purcellville area. This is a part-time weekend position focused on community engagement, personal care, and maintaining a positive, active routine.
Schedule
- Saturday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Sunday: 12:00 PM – 9:00 PM
- Optional: Monday shifts are available if the candidate desires additional hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Community & Physical Activity: Accompany the individual on daily walks and community outings to promote social engagement and physical health.
- Meal Prep: Assist with preparing and serving nutritious meals and snacks.
- Personal Care: Provide assistance with personal hygiene and daily living tasks with a focus on dignity and respect.
- Communication: Utilize patience and creative techniques to support an individual who is primarily non-verbal.
- Safety & Support: Ensure a safe environment while encouraging independence and following a consistent daily routine.
Qualifications
- Experience: Prior experience with Autism or non-verbal individuals is highly preferred.
- Requirements: * Must have a valid Driver’s License and reliable vehicle for community visits.
- Must be able to pass a DBHDS-compliant background check and fingerprinting.
- Ability to engage in physical activities like long walks.
- Certifications: CPR/First Aid (or willingness to obtain) and completion of the Virginia DSP Orientation (can be completed post-hire).
Pay
- $18.00 – $25.00 per hour (depending on experience).
Pay: $22.51 - $27.10 per hour
