PALO ALTO COUNTY HEALTH SYSTEM
Emmetsburg, IA Full Time
POSTED ON 8/2/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 10/1/2026

Our Staff Speech-Language Pathologists play a vital role in supporting high-quality rehabilitation services at PACHS. As a Speech-Language Pathologist, you will help patients improve communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing function while enhancing their overall quality of life through skilled evaluation and evidence-based intervention. You will provide care for patients of all ages in inpatient, outpatient, and home care settings while collaborating with a multidisciplinary healthcare team to ensure safe, compassionate, and effective rehabilitation services.

In this role, you will evaluate, diagnose, and treat speech, language, communication, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. You will develop individualized treatment plans, implement therapeutic interventions, and provide education and training to patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, documenting evaluations and treatment progress, coordinating care with physicians and payers, and communicating recommendations that support optimal patient outcomes. You may also supervise rehabilitation aides and students while providing consultation services to outreach facilities as needed.

Your responsibilities include maintaining accurate and timely documentation, supporting departmental policies and procedures, and contributing to an organized, efficient, and patient-centered environment. You will assist with program development, quality-improvement initiatives, and promotion of speech therapy services while adhering to the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) Code of Ethics. You will adapt to changes in healthcare processes and technology and provide care to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

This role requires strong interpersonal and communication skills, sound clinical judgment, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Candidates must graduate from an accredited Speech-Language Pathology program, possess current Iowa licensure as a Speech-Language Pathologist, and maintain required certifications, including eligibility for or possession of the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).
