We are seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who can step in, take ownership of the financial operations, and build scalable systems that drive profitability and accountability across the organization.
Position Overview
This is not a “sit behind a desk” CFO role.
We are looking for a financial operator who will work directly with leadership, office staff, and field operations to:
- Clean up and streamline financial systems
- Implement strong job costing and reporting
- Oversee all accounting workflows
- Drive profitability through data and accountability
You will be working daily inside QuickBooks and ServiceTitan, ensuring full financial visibility and accuracy across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Accounting Management
- Oversee all accounting operations (AR, AP, payroll, reconciliation, reporting)
- Manage and review all transactions within QuickBooks and ServiceTitan
- Ensure accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial close
- Prepare company for tax filings and coordinate with CPA
Reconciliation & Financial Accuracy
- Reconcile all bank accounts, credit cards, and internal systems
- Ensure alignment between ServiceTitan and QuickBooks
- Identify discrepancies and implement corrective processes
Billing, Payables & Cash Flow Management
- Oversee all outgoing payments, vendor management, and approvals
- Monitor accounts payable and receivable performance
- Maintain strong cash flow forecasting and control
Job Costing & Profitability Tracking
- Implement and maintain accurate job costing systems
- Track profitability by project, department, and service line
- Work with operations to improve margins and efficiency
Systems & Process Development
- Build and refine accounting workflows and internal controls
- Improve financial reporting dashboards and KPIs
- Help implement best practices within ServiceTitan
Leadership & Accountability
- Manage and guide internal accounting/office staff
- Work directly with ownership on financial strategy
- Hold departments accountable to budgets and financial performance
Qualifications
Required
- 5 years in a senior financial leadership role (CFO, Controller, or Director of Finance)
- Experience in HVAC, construction, or service-based businesses
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks
- Experience with ServiceTitan (preferred but not required)
- Deep understanding of:
- Job costing
- Cash flow management
- Financial reporting
- Operational finance
Preferred
- Experience scaling a service-based company
- Background in multi-division or multi-location operations
- CPA or advanced financial certification (a plus, not required)
Compensation
- Base Salary: $65,00 – $135,000
- Performance Bonus: Based on profitability, margin improvement, and profitability compensation
