Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examination and treatment by obtaining vital signs, medical histories, medication lists, and chief complaints.
  • Assist providers with examinations, procedures, and treatments.
  • Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments as ordered and within scope of practice.
  • Perform clinical procedures including specimen collection, EKGs, wound care, dressing changes, and point-of-care testing.
  • Document patient information accurately and timely in the electronic medical record (EMR).
  • Monitor patient conditions and report changes or concerns to the provider.
  • Provide patient education regarding medications, treatments, follow-up care, and preventive health measures.
  • Coordinate referrals, diagnostic testing, prescription refills, and follow-up appointments.
  • Maintain exam rooms, clinical supplies, and equipment according to infection control and safety standards.
  • Follow clinic policies, HIPAA regulations, OSHA standards, and infection prevention protocols.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies within the clinic setting.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and staff meetings as required.
  • Maintain professional communication with patients, families, providers, and staff.

Non-Essential Duties

  • Assist with orientation and training of new clinical staff.
  • Support front office operations during periods of high patient volume.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of medical supplies.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of nursing principles, practices, and standards applicable to outpatient care.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pharmacology.
  • Knowledge of infection control, safety procedures, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems and standard office software.
  • Understanding of clinical procedures and medication administration protocols.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Practical Nursing program.
  • Current, active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in the State of South Carolina.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical nursing experience preferred; outpatient or ambulatory care experience preferred.
  • Experience with EMR systems preferred.

Physical Requirements

  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching throughout the workday.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate medical equipment and perform clinical procedures.
  • Ability to use computers, phones, and standard office equipment.
  • Visual acuity sufficient to read medical records, medication labels, and computer screens.
  • Ability to hear and communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Exposure to bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious materials consistent with a healthcare environment.

Work Environment

  • Outpatient medical clinic environment with frequent patient interaction.
  • Exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, and medical equipment.
  • Fast-paced setting requiring flexibility and teamwork.

Non-exempt position responsible for providing direct and indirect patient care in an outpatient medical clinic setting under the supervision of a physician or advanced practitioner provider. Responsibilities include patient intake, clinical support, medication administration, patient education, documentation, and coordination of care to promote efficient clinic operations and quality patient outcomes. The LPN demonstrates professionalism, compassion, and adherence to all applicable clinical standards, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.

Salary : $60,356 - $77,027
