JOB DESCRIPTION: Part-Time – Bookkeeper
SUPERVISOR: Deputy Director
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt, At-Will Position
HOURS: 20-25 hours per week

Palmetto Place provides housing and wraparound support for youth experiencing homelessness and crisis. We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented Bookkeeper who wants to use their skills to support meaningful, life-changing work in our community.
Key Responsibilities
· Record financial transactions in QuickBooks, including:
o Manual check payments to vendors
- Online payments to vendors
- Checks received from donors, agencies, and grantors
- Bank deposits from donors, agencies, and grantors
- Transfers between accounts (Operating, Payroll, Money Market, and Credit Card)
- Interest income and expenses
- Bank fees
- Credit card transactions for approximately 4–6 employees
- Reconcile all bank and credit card statements monthly
- Ensure transactions are accurately recorded to appropriate general ledger accounts and, when applicable, properly allocated to grants
- Maintain and update the chart of accounts as needed
- Reconcile balance sheets as needed (at minimum quarterly)
- Prepare and distribute monthly financial statements in advance of Finance Committee meetings, including commentary on significant activity
- Prepare quarterly budget-to-actual reports with explanations for significant variances
- Provide account analysis and financial support to the Executive Director and Deputy Executive Director as needed
- Assist with budget planning and the annual audit process
Qualifications
· Associate’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field required; (relevant experience may substitute for degree)
· Minimum of 2 years of bookkeeping experience; QuickBooks proficiency preferred
· Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
· Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information
Schedule & Compensation
- 20–25 hours per week
- $22–$25 per hour, based on experience
- Flexible weekday schedule
Requirements Prior to Employment:
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Satisfactory reference checks
- Pass background checks (SLED, Fingerprint, DSS Central Registry, and both SC and National Sex Offender Registry)
- If lived outside of South Carolina in the past 5 years, must also pass DSS Central Registry check from the state previously lived
- Complete and pass a drug screen and a physical
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Must be 21 years of age or older
- Completion of New Hire trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care training, within first month of employment
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Experience:
- Bookkeeping; Quickbooks: 2 years (Preferred)
